I had the same idea when we prepared our project in March. Basically, location information is very private, but one might be willing to reveal this information to his/her relatives. With this service, I get to know whether my Mom or husband change her regular schedule.
Google maps is a facinating feature, there is a book about hacking google map and earth to create mashup. Imaging that I make a request in a strange city about where to eat. There might be local people enthusiastically passing me the address of a restaurant which will be marked on the google map. Won't it be great!
